Why Boys Brains Are Like Waffles

The Waffle Analogy

Boys have waffle brains. This is funny to explain, but just as funny as explaining that girls have spaghetti brains. Funny or quirky, the waffle analogy is a perfect explanation for the way guys think or the way they don't think that sometimes baffles and frustrates girls.

You see, guys  have boxes in their heads - different storage spaces for different thing: Cars, family, food, computer issues. Each space for one thing and one thing alone.  If a guy is in one compartment, that is all he focuses on. If he's watching T.V, he's in the T.V box. When he's in the garage, he's in the garage box. Sometimes, in between these boxes the guys have what's known as their blank box. This is the stress reliever box. A box without words or thoughts where guys can just go and park their brains for while. If you've ever noticed your brother, or uncle, or guy friend sitting on a couch somewhere and they seem to have completely zoned out, they're in their blank box. It's incredible to think that it's possible for a person to focus on only a thought at a time, at least for girls it would be, but it's true, and that is what makes guys great problem solvers. They settle in a box with a certain problem, assess the problem, and proffer a solution to it. If they can't fix the problem immediately, they move on to another box and leave that problem for later. The reason for this is because guys dislike feeling like failures at anything. So if he sees that he can't fix the problem at that moment, he moves on and leaves it for another time when he'll be better equipped to fix it. These three things - problem solving, the failure factor, and moving into another box are reasons why conversations like these happen:

Guy: Hey, how was class today? (Friend box)
Girl: It was great, except the fact that Anne literally wore the same shirt as me today.
Guy: Oh..she did?
Girl: Yes! And she had the audacity to sit right next to me in chem.
Guy: Well...maybe you shouldn't wear the same shirt again (Problem solving in Family Box)
Girl: (Taken back) Not wear my shirt? she shouldn't wear hers! How dare she?
Guy: well...uh, I don't know (Blank Box)
Girl: You're not even helping
Guy: Why is this so important to you? It's just a shirt! (Frustration because he's been unable to solve the problem and now wants to move to another box)

Girls probably don't like conversations like these, because here she needed emotional support and probably to hear something like "hers is probably just an old shirt",  but he didn't realize that, and was only trying to solve what he saw as a problem she had.
